KEEP IT HOLSTERED! (Sorry for his loss)

If this was an accident the hammer must have been cocked when he laid it aside. Still it is unlikely...If it was lying in the seat next to him, and went off through the seat from behind her, wouldn't the bullet hit her very low, like in the butt? Maybe and maybe not, but this is really weird...If the hammer wasn't cocked I definitely call BS.

“This is one of those situations we’re working through very slowly,” hmmm.........

Preaching to the converted I know but rule number one is:

1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

At the very least it is negligent manslaughter.

If I was worried about my family's safety to the point of upholstering my weapon ; I could never fall asleep due to heightened alert factor . he was still in Atlanta and not a hundred miles down the road!

+1 My feelings exactly. He got the gun because they were afraid of a carjacking and yet after passing the intersection he fell asleep within a mile. Na, don't believe it.

We had one of our members have a similar situation here recently. Only it was his wife and she missed. There is a thread around here somewhere on it.
