I went to Sportsman's Warehouse to browse around and do some window shopping. They had several Kimbers in the case. I know the LW models are series 70 so I checked one out in 9mm. It was well under 1k. The fit and finish were not bad at all. The slide had zero play and the barrel did not budge. The trigger and thumb safety both felt decently crisp. Sights were very plain but done well. I was honestly very impressed and almost bought it. The full size LW model feels really good in the hand. I would probably add a Stan Chen magwell and a few other little things and call it good. As long as it functioned well.

Are people sleeping on these pistols? They have optics cut Lightweight model that looks interesting. Anyone pick one of these up and run it through it's paces?

I was also really impressed with the new comapct 3.5 inch Prodigy. I haven't seen to many review on those. I played with the SA 35 Hi Power and thought it was really nice. A lot of pretty decent reasonably priced pistols on the market right now.

when Kimber moved factories their QC went in the toilet, and a lot of people got guns that didn't run. Myself included. Then they kinda rebranded as expensive and fancy, but weren't reliable. They seem to be dropping the prices but really there's so much other stuff on the market I think they are just riding things down to the ground.

Many, like me, won't touch them again.

Had 2 of them.. sold 1 and kept the other.. then ended up trading the one I kept.. I wouldn't waste my money on a kimber again.. I know they used to have a great name and quality but never again shall I purchase a Kimber... Ever, I'd rather stick to my Sig's and Glocks & HK maybe even the FN's

Buddy of mine got one back in 2012ish… stainless barrel covered up with rust within 6 months.
Yep, also I stay away from the High Carbon Steel slides. Had the Springfield Garrison and unless you oiled it everyday it would seriously have specks of what looked like "rust".... Never had a HK,Glock or SIG do that to me EVER.... I know they've got "Fan boys" out there and all but quality over quantity and I dont care if it costs $650-$1200 If it's a quality firearm and will last the test of time then I am down..

I got one from bass pro a few years ago when they were 499 at that time they where competitively priced I know they have gone up substantially I think last I checked they where closer to 800 at that price you could get a decent springer or a well optioned Tisas if US made isn’t an issue

Some dumbass (which later turned to be a really good friend from ODT) traded me a brand new HK vp.40 that He straight up customized & converted to 3 different calibers with 3 different barrels & guidrod, springs etc etc
. 9mm,.40 & .357sig... Paid $650 for the LW Ghost 1911 & got well over a $1K trade for it that's plus the upgrades also.. he just had to have a Kimber 1911 .45acp... I was like uh ok man.. ran the serial #'s and we did a B.O.S and all was good. We still talk to this day! Good dude!!
