Lake Lanier, can you CC?

Do you, or anyone know which properties the Corps actually own?

I know they own the properties in my post. There may be other properties that they own on Lake Lanier (plus the mentioned setback).

I do not know of a systematic way to determine all the COE property on a specific lake. Most of it will be listed on COE websites for a specific lake. By and large the COE has good internet presence.

Some private clubs (my sailing club included) are considered COE land because the land is leased to the club. Also, if your private marina allows public access your lease payments are dramatically reduced by the Corp, so I would suspect any private marina that allows public launch ramp access is a Corp leased property.

Well according to Hall County GIS, Lake Lanier Islands is owned by "Lanier Islands Inn Association", presumably a private entity. Some other property (like at the dam) are clearly shown to be owned by "US Army Corps Of Engineers". Where are you getting your information that the Corps owns any of the lodges etc?

Following up on my post about the 2 legal systems, I can sort of give you a local example.

Back in the day when Ga. was trying to establish resident Canada Geese, there was a guy in a bass boat on Lake Oconee who had nothing better to do than beat a goose to death because it was messing up his fishing (or some other reason, who knows).

He received a federal citation for that, and the fine was $10,000 and the judge told him not to come back, or it would cost him a bass boat and a bigger fine. The judge (Wilbur Owens) told him that he (the judge) had better things to do than deal with fools like him (the defendant) and so he (the judge) was nipping this in the bud. At that time there was no goose season in Georgia, so there were enhanced fines above and beyond the scheduled fines for being over the limit,

The Lake Lanier Islands Waterpark (or whatever it is) business is owned by Lake Lanier Islands Associationas a concessionaire of the state which leases the land from the COE. The COE owns all the islands in Lake Lanier.

You can find a summary of the tangled history of Lake Lanier Islands (and it's previous iterations) here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Lanier_Islands I'm not relying on Wikipedia, as I am personally familiar with the history, I just don't have time to dig out the original sources.

Lake Lanier Islands (caps) is a private business which is situated on Lake Lanier islands (lower case) which are owned by the COE.

The land "may" be leased from the COE and COE rules apply, even if it is a private entity, ie marina, Inn, etc.

Lake Lanier Sailing CLub (llsc.com) is a private club on leased COE as one example.

Some of the privately owned land was purchased from the CoE in 1959 when the lake was filled.

I would bet that anything that was built recently is most likely on leased land.

Bottom line is that you dont want to get caught carrying on Lanier, or around Lanier, or in the Lake Lanier Islands Resort, or in any of the marinas.

Looks like they only include the improvements. http://qpublic7.qpublic.net/ga_display.php?county=ga_hall&KEY=07357 000002 Can't find landowner.
Gwinnett on the other hand, shows the USACE as owners. http://gis.gwinnettcounty.com/OnPointWebsite/Temp/PDFReports/Reports_Land Parcels_08032016_114402.pdf

Now that property clearly shows the land not being owned by USACE. http://qpublic7.qpublic.net/ga_display.php?county=ga_hall&KEY=08108 000010
