Starting to get down to the wire but i got it done this afternoon. What a season....saw this guy for the first time this year in bow season. He was in velvet and a beauty. Our next encounter would be opening day of rifle season. He showed up but the cows had him spooked and he changed his route. He stopped but in a bad spot. Had my muzzlegun on him, hammer backed, just needed a couple more steps. Had a marginal shot but i dont do marginal shots. I let him walk and he went on about his business.
Today he showed back up to my surprise. He slipped up on me from my down wind side. From the time I saw him, identified him, got my gun up, and pulled the trigger couldn't have been 30 seconds. I let the black powder roll and he stumbled about 25 yards. I am beyond tickled to kill such a unique deer. Literally the only thing that changed about his horns from last year was that the frame got bigger and more mass. Great way to end out the season.
