I converted our entire house to LED lights a few years ago. In some areas like the kitchen I installed dimmable light fixtures that had this switchable color/brightness feature. It was nice to customize the lights to the space but now I’m not so sure it was a good idea.

Flash forward 2-3 years….the regular LED bulbs are still working perfect but the selectable ones are beginning to dim out. All of them, even the selectable ones that aren’t on a dimmer switch. Household voltage checks out ok. It seems like I’ll need to replace them all before year’s end. Maybe there’s a design flaw with that selectable feature? Have any of you guys experienced this?

The selectable ones are integrated led light strips that use a few colors at the same time to make the desired color. Over time the LED strips lose their luster and the fixtures need to be replaced.

I’d stick with the single LED bulb options moving forward to avoid the replacement of the entire fixture for simplicity and cost
