Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. It seems like my Lee dies need to be almost bottomed out in the toolhead to have contact with the shellplate and to actuate the proper function on the cases. My RCBS dies do not have this "issue," and have plenty of threading left to go once they are dialed in. This does not actually cause an issue, as I've loaded countless rounds with the Lees. But for the dies to be at the end of their functional depth just to do their job seems a little strange. Again, no problems, just curious. I'm thinking about switching my dies out to Dillon and RCBS for all calibers, even though the Lees are awfully convenient with their carbide goodness.

You are correct sir, switch brands and the problem will be gone. The only Lee product I use is a U-die and I barely have enough threads to lock in down in my 1050.

I remove the lock ring, remove the O-ring, turn the lock ring over and have plenty of threads left for my Hornady L-N-L and Dillon 1050s. You can also put the lock ring on bottom of the die once it is in the tool head. You can get the Dillon 1" lock rings--they are very thin. There are lots of things to do. I have dies from many sources that are shorter than I would wish--it isn't JUST Lee.

Lee is about all I use in my RL550b, I haven't had any problems that I recall. I have about 6-8 rifle calibers and probably 5-6 pistol calibers. I do use a single stage Lee for resizing my file brass though instead of doing it on the Dillon. Seems easier to resize on it.
