Lee Enfield Stock

I think I still have the rear half of a No. 1 Mk III forestock you could have. I used the front half to restore a No. 1 Mk I.

you may be able to cut what you need out of it and splice it into yours.

Most reasonably priced replacement stocks you're going to run across now will be from Ishapore drill rifles, which won't quite match your Lithgow. They're usually slightly thicker and have a notch near the rear.
That'd be awesome!! You don't live too far away from me either. I work in Macon so I could meet you after work one day. I feel like I would need to trade you something tho! Do you reload 303? I have 20 rounds of brass as a meager offering.

I am a pretty handy person when it comes to wood working but I am, by far, no gunsmith. Is this something I could do myself or does anybody know of any good contacts for stock repair? I don't mind sending it off if I have to - I just want it to be done right.

I found this forum on repairing the draws of an SMLE. Feel free to comment - overall, the problems here are a little different than the problems I am having. If you scroll down, they have posted some good pics...

Anything with Peter's name on it is golden.

The stock is so nice I would personally take my time and try patching it myself. The worse you can do is totally muck it up. If you do, then go the used stock way. But using a used stock - you could be getting into worn draws too, etc., which will need to be repaired. Take some time, hack that little piece off (internally) and replace it, then shape it. It will take you some time but you'll enjoy working with it...then shooting it!

10-4 good buddy. Sounds like a great chance to get a little alone time with my Australian gal.

Simple fix. Sharp chisel out the old broken area. Rough up the surface a bit. Cut a new blank from walnut left over from some other stock, fit it. Epoxy it in with acraglas.....the joint will be about a million times stronger than the wood. Put it back to gether and shoot for another 40eleven years.

Longest part of this job is wating 24 hours for the acraglas to kick over and set.

Yeah, that's pretty wood. By the way, your rear sight wings are on backwards. Is this a Jon Jovino import?
Yup! It's got the JJCO NY stamps at the bottom of the charging bridge.

So it seems to be pretty unanimous at this point; it's too pretty not to at least try and repair. I passed this along to my dad and he has a few blocks of walnut laying around for us to use. We will cut out the cracked areas, epoxy in a Dutchman, router or chisel to fit and then see how it goes! I will keep y'all updated with pics as this moves along. Don't hold your breath. This may take a while.
