Left hand shooters

I shoot with both hands any advice on shooting a scoped bolt action with the opposing hand? For example cocking left hand bolt with your right hand?

Keeping the first sessions short is good advice for any new shooter, my dad showed me the safety rules buy handling the gun with.

Being your left hand back from the foregrip, cycle the bolt, move your hand back to the foregrip.

I shoot Long guns left handed and handguns right handed. All my guns are right handed. Been shooting this way for about 55 years or so, with no problem. My left eye is dominate.i tried left hand bolt rife years ago but can't seem to work it out so I'll stick with right handed guns.

You got a few years on me, but I'm the exact same way. My Nephews that shoot right handed are amazed that I can shoot a right-handed bolt gun left handed, faster than they can shoot it right handed. I love anything with a tang safety and I really don't care to own a lefty. Actually I can take the pistol with either hand equally.

You learn to deal with it. I'm left eye dominant and shoot rifles lefty. I've never got into bolt actions, beyond surplus guns, for that reason. You can get left hand mag releases and ambi safeties for ARs to make them more user friendly.

A little tape over the left lens and training a brand new shooter to shoot right handed wouldn't be much of a problem.

I shoot a right handed bolt. I shoot left handed. I bolt the rifle with my right hand, with my left hand never leaving the trigger. I really don't think I'd like shooting a bolt any other way.

I can shoot right or left hand I prefer right. I have driven cars with right and left hand steering and I handle girls right or left or both hands and some have said I have 4 hands. So what is the big deal.

I do the same and I shoot handgun with either hand just little quicker with right hand with handgun! You adapt and overcome.

All us southpaws have figured out a way to adapt. The method I described was for shooting a left hand bolt right handed. Basically the same thing you described only a mirror image.

Something else to consider when shooting a rifle, especially a scoped rifle is that eye dominance isn't as nearly as big a thing.

I try to be somewhat proficient with either hand doing most anything. Shooting, writing, eating, hammer, drill, saw, throwing, etc.

Some folks couldn't brush their teeth with their non dominate hand.
What happens if your dominate hand becomes incapacitated or gone?
