Lesson

Another lesson in the "school of hard knocks", no doubt. Sure hate to hear it though! You'd think at least there would be some respect between hunters, but this thread just further justifies my lack of trust of anyone that I don't know, and very few of those that I think I know.

Lesson number 2: I always hide my keys close to my truck when I go in the woods. That way I know I won't lose them in the woods, also if you are hunting with someone and there is an emergency everyone will know where the keys are. You can't go wrong doing it and it only takes a few seconds to do it. Oh yea, I too hope the scumbag chokes on your deer.

Sorry guys, didn't realize anyone had responded to this message since I wasn't receiving alerts on my phone.

It is pretty shady, but it's a lesson learned for sure. Honestly, if a person is that hungry, then they need it more than me.

I know for the future to carry my extra set of keys so I can unlock my truck.

I'm just happy there was a creek nearby that I could go get water from to put out the bonfire they had abandoned next to my truck.

Do you think the vet could bring it back alive?

I do normally leave my keys hidden somewhere but it was all new territory that I was hunting and didn't quite understand the demographics of the area. I'm not sure if these guys were hunters or if they were just kids that wanted to hide away, start a fire, drink some beers, and happened to stumble across the deer underneath my truck or what. In any case, I definitely learned some lessons.

When I lived in Mississippi, my buddy and I did a draw hunt near Vicksburg. It was extremely cold that year and we had limited cooler space. We decided to just strap the deer to the trailer and skin them when we got back to Starkville. For 3 days, we had 4 deer on the trailer. Neither on the public land or at the hotel in Vicksburg did we have anyone touch anything or attempt to take a deer. My buddy that was with me on that hunt, was with me when this situation happened. He is originally from Georgia but works at Auburn now. He was pretty shocked to see this happen to say the least.

a friend of mine had his cooler and the quatered deer that was in it stolen from camp. Needless to say I don't leave anything out if I can help it

How BALLSY is that to go in the woods with KNOWN armed men hidden around, and steal their ****? I bet some "hunters"(thieves) accidentally get shot but another(Stolen from) hunter.....

I had a buck in the back of my truck last year. Went inside the gas station to use the bathroom, grab a snack and drink and pay for gas. Got home and my buck was missing its antlers. At least I got the meat. But it was top 3 biggest buck I had taken.

a story like this just makes he sad for humanity. however, since i'm a little twisted, it also make me want to reposition my trail cam and tree stand 50 yards away from your truck. i would give anything to capture the look of some d:ckheads face when i shot the antler off of the deer that he was trying to drag back to his truck. that would be priceless.
