Lesson

Dang, never had one stolen out of the truck (or out from under the truck). I helped a guy track his first recurve "kill"... we tracked that thing for probably over a mile till we found a good patch of blood, his arrow laying on the ground and drag marks leading to the road that bordered the other side of the property. I would say the "other hunter" probably put in arrow into the deer too but my friend was heart broken none the less.

I had a buck in the back of my truck last year. Went inside the gas station to use the bathroom, grab a snack and drink and pay for gas. Got home and my buck was missing its antlers. At least I got the meat. But it was top 3 biggest buck I had taken.
:pound:OK, OK. I'm not laughing at you... but dayum at the guy sawing on a deer head in the the back of someone elses truck... at the gas station!

dayum they were fast

Yeah judging by the marks and blood in the back of my truck I would guess either robo cop was behind it or they used some sort of power tool. Probably a sawsall

And as far as fast. I imagine they were but probably didn't have to be. I was in the store a little bit. I'm not trying to paint any pictures but the gas and snack were not really the reason for the stop just figured since I was already stopping might as well

Lesson number 2: I always hide my keys close to my truck when I go in the woods. That way I know I won't lose them in the woods, also if you are hunting with someone and there is an emergency everyone will know where the keys are. You can't go wrong doing it and it only takes a few seconds to do it. Oh yea, I too hope the scumbag chokes on your deer.

Great idea and when I could I took it a step further. The new truck has a keypad on the door and the keys are inside. When I hunt with someone I give them the code for the keypad. Things happen...

To be honest I don't get it. You look at a set of antlers you got or a mount on the wall and it takes you back to that hunt. You feel a sense of accomplishment. Your buddies are over and see it and you have the story of the hunt to tell them. What do you get out of a stolen deer? A feeling of shame? Do you brag " yeah I got that one out of the back of a truck at the 7/11, man it was dicey, I seen him laying there jumped out grabbed my sawsall, leaned over the tailgate made a couple quick cuts and got out of there. Biggest buck I've ever been that close to." That just makes you a fool.

I'm sure he'd lie, he's already a thief ....
