Savage .25?

That’s it.

“Savage .25 Auto and as you will note, it's styled along the lines of the Model 1907. Only about 40 were ever made and of that number just about half of them were stamped with serial numbers. There were two versions; the first, made in 1914-15 are like the pistol in the photo and had the 10 widely spaced serrations on the slide. The second version had 27 thin serrations on the slide. All models had a blue finish, the magazine catch and trigger are color case-hardened, and the safety is fire blued. The barrel was 2-3/8" and it weighed 12 oz. without the 6-round capacity magazine. Interestingly, it had a grip safety and a magazine safety. The grip panels are black hard rubber and have the round Savage logo; however, unique to this model is the Savage banner at the top of the grip.

Savage made quite an investment in tooling for this pistol, but it never made it to production. Some were used as salesman's samples, but they were never marketed. Apparently, Savage decided they couldn't compete with the Model 1908 Colt and the FN Baby Browning.”
