Ok, I finally found the info on this gun.

Here are two hints:

ONE. it was based on the design of a rifle and the rifle version of this came out one year before the pistol version shown here.

TWO. Both the rifle and pistol versions were submitted to the military of a nation of Europe, and were adopted-- at least provisionally and in some small numbers.

It's a communist nation's version of a
.50 caliber semi auto anti-material rifle,
but it's not actually chambered in 50 BMG
