Two dedicated defense SBSs. One for upstairs, one for downstairs.

Benelli M4 14" Entry: Came with the polymer pistol grip stock but I replaced it with a wood stock. Best described by ODTs NFA Arms Dealer: "Classy with some testosterone". This one stays downstairs in a corner.

Lone Star Arms "The Locksmith" Saiga 12. An 11" SBS ordered with all bells and whistles + many custom 1-off features requested and custom designed/manufactured with my input. Took half a year, start to finish. Threw the kitchen sink at it as my first dedicated HD-only gun. Take it out to my range every few years to blow the dust off. Runs like a top (because AK). Eats everything. It has been the nightstand gun for over the past decade since ordering it in 2013. Couldn't be happier with it and one of my fave guns.

Both very cool. But that short tube Benelli with wood is top tier badassery.

Just last weekend I took out my 20 gauge pump shotgun equipped with the 18 inch smoothbore, rifle-sighted slug barrel.

I shot it with birdshot and buckshot. I ran out of time before I could put a few slugs through it.

This was the first time in probably three years that I used this gun .

I was really surprised how wide the pattern spread: I fired the #7.5 birdshot from 7 yards and I got a pattern of about 7 inches.

No. 2 BUCKSHOT : from 10 yards I used the buckshot and I got about a 12 inch pattern --completely engulfed the chest area of the human silhouette target .

Which was GREAT, even an ideal, but only from that distance. I wouldn't think this is a good load and gun combination to use at 20 yards.

The wide angle setting on my camera phone distorts the gun and makes the barrel look longer than it is.

It's really only 18.5 inches, straight cylinder bore.

I usually have a tactical flashlight and laser unit attached to the gun when it's in the home defense role, but the last time I used it before this I had a sporting barrel on for busting Clay targets, so the flashlight/laser unit was put away.

It is a 20ga, cyl. bore with a short barrel to boot. Different ammo may change results. Barrel length doesn't make a great deal of difference. It's the last 2" or so that does. Only other difference is sight plane. You could also get a screw in choke barrel and play with that. For defense purposes, that is fine. For a bird hunt, no so much
