LIBERTY GUN SAFE NOT WORKING!!!!!

Do they need to be done annually?

What I noticed on my safe with a mechanical lock was this.

Over the course of many years, it appeared to me the numbers were changing a little bit.
Basically the combination got sloppy.
At the end of the combination it use to stop at 90, as time went on that number went down.
One day I had a difficult time getting in, almost like each number changed a tad.
I called SafeCracka and he recommended I not close it and order an electronic replacement.
I switched it out and have been ok since.

Yep mechanical for me just like all these computerized electrical vehicles on the road now if something goes wrong it has to be put on a machine to find the problems and don't talk about a EMP situation!!!!

I suspect many of us Gun folks are somewhat paranoid about anyone seeing where our Gun safe or vault is located in the house and its particular brand & model, so would rather not have preventative-maintenance service performed on our mechanical dials.

Your safe tech can get into better safes than yours, holding way more valuable stuff. : )

Hire someone who handles commercial safe repairs if you're paranoid. Joe Blow locksmith in a van? I don't think so (I agree with you.). But a real safe technician? Assuming he breaks bad, he's got better options than you, unless you're a diamond merchant keeping goods at home, etc. Ask a pawn shop or jewelry shop who they use.

(It's probably Roland if you're on the north side of Atlanta...)

Agreed.... and after a certain point they are like car transmissions, just leave them alone and wait for them to fail.

This is a much bigger worry than EMP! Cars can handle EMP; the early electronic cars were getting killed by nearby lightning strikes. They hardened them decades ago.

If you can offer any kind of reading material for this claim I'd like to read it. Everything I've read regarding this matter says different.
