Are you just punching paper? Look on here in the classifieds for a .243. You can find good deals on Savage bolt actions, and the .243 is highly accurate well past 100 yards with little recoil. Put the money you save towards very good glass.
How easy are these rounds to find? I just finally got enough rounds for my .40 so that I don't feel like I have to go out looking every other day, I only go out on weekends looking for more.
It's one of the most common rifle rounds there is. It is a very popular hunting round, and since it's not a "tactical" cartridge you should have no trouble finding some.
Yeah I am not looking to hunt or anything. I am just looking for something to punch some paper. I am wanting something that I can shoot with my buddies at the range. Walking up to the 10, 25 and 50yd is fun but I would like to have something to go long and hit the 100+ with them and their 30-06.
All I can tell you is that it is accurate, easy to find and pleasurable to shoot. You will have no problem punching paper as well as your buddies. And if you reload there is a wide selection of projectiles for it.

Yea, that'd be my vote too. Get a 22-250. Accurate, plenty of range, very little recoil, easy to find ammo for.
