Looking for a s&w m&p 9 or 40 compact

I'm looking for something on the smaller side, preferably in .40 cal for my wife. She loves my glock 22, and has fondled the m&p series and liked them. She is getting her carry license this week and I want to do this as a bout freakin time gift! Here's the problem cash is a bit on the tight side and I've got about $300 or a little more to play with. A glock 23 is nice.It will cost yu about 425.00.The Smith 40 c will run about 400.00.The 40 c will be easier for her to hold on to.
