Several years ago I impulse purchased a Romanian Model 65 Underfolder parts kit from MidwayUSA. It's been sitting in the basement doing a whole lot of nothing since then, and I'm finally ready to try and build it.
After watching many videos on the subject, I can tell that I'm out of my depth both in experience and in tooling. I'm an amateur hobby machinist, and I have a 20 ton press and a Bridgeport milling machine, lathe, spot welder, and many other fun toys, but all the specialized dies and other necessary tooling I'd prefer not to purchase for a one-off build.
I already contacted one well-known builder in Ellijay and he isn't taking on new builds at this time. So I'm looking for someone who is willing to either rent out their tooling or, preferably, work with me to show me The Way Of The Force. This is something I realize is easy to mess up, and it'd be a shame for that to happen due to my own shortcomings. Of course I'm willing to pay for this specialized experience.
If there's no one in the Atlanta area who's willing to do this with me, my last choice would be to send it out to someone to have them complete the build without me. But where's the fun and learning in that?
I'd also need to order the parts to finish it, and I'd definitely need some assistance as to which ones and where to obtain them.
Many thanks in advance. And I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I figured it was definitely related to fixing guns.
