I grew up around guns/hunters, however I haven't done any real shooting in over 20 years. I picked up some a couple rifles and a pistol last summer and have started going to the range regularly since then. I have only had the opportunity to shoot over 25 yards a few times since.

Unfortunately, I think I remember more of my bad habits than I remember proper shooting techniques.

I have asked around at the local shops, but most of the people I have found are booked for months.

I am educated, I listen well, learn quickly and take advice/criticism well, and most importantly, I am safe around firearms.

I would love to learn/relearn, proper shooting technique, as well as rifle/optics setup.

I live in East Cobb, but I am willing to drive for the right opportunity - of course I am not expecting this to be free.

Thanks so much, I will check out those links!

NP, and I forgot to mention the Appleseed training classes are a great baseline starting point to learn the fundamentals, and you can even bring a 22 if that is all you have. The only downside is the classes are usually only held a couple of times each month so you may have to travel within GA depending on location.

My wife and I and another couple we're friends with will be going to the Feb 16-17 event in Waco, GA. It's probably about an hour from Marietta.

You can pick to go one day or both days at any event. This will be my first but it comes highly recommended from another friend (and ODTer) whose sent his whole family through, some of them several times.

I am an instructor in the Appleseed Program. I believe you will be hard pressed to find better training for the money. It is 100% volunteer based, so it helps keep the costs down substantially and the instructors there are want to be there. The Waco shoot is probably one of the most convenient to you, based on where you are located. I would highly recommend both days. The first day will be like trying to drink from a water hose, the second day helps you smooth out and practice all the drills and info you tried to digest the day before. Hope you make it out to one soon.
