Looking for the best mutant ak47

I am not that well versed as to what causes the high rate of failures on ar’s which is why spec ops was begging jsoc back in the early 2000’s to allow them to use ak’s. As the type of ops they do they can afford to be screwing around with jams and from what I have heard a little sand will stop an ar just like the many Vietnam vets stories about failures in the jungle due to dirt and/or moisture. Which is why I have alway gone with aks as they are accurate enough and the African militias in the bush keep them running with old motor oil and stuff. Someone once said the di gas system is part of why ar’s fail, which I know a big part is the tight tolerances versus the Ak which is loose as hell(like my ex wife😂) compared to the ar. But, I want to provide my kids with a gun that I can put optics that will hold a zero, lights and an an/peq as I have plenty of 3+ fast helmets with shrouds and I am working on a second set of nv. Which due to pricing I am wondering if those day/night nv scopes are a better route as they as so much cheaper and I don’t know how fast the green tubes degrade over time as I figure it might be 15-30 years before the bottom falls out and things get real ugly all around the world but real bad here as we are a heavily armed country. Where most 3rd world countries and Europe is it only the hard core criminals that have guns. I am just trying to set my kids up as best as possible with a good “insurance” policy. Thanks for all the help

That was tough to read. On multiple levels

How old are your kids? Mine are mid 20’s and won’t leave lol. My grandson will be 5 soon. Just curious , cause 223/556 is easier to shoot , find, and less expensive. That AAC 69 - 77gr 5.56x45 ammo has been good to me. AmmoSeek.com is a good source either way👍🏻

I have heard to horror stories, and there is a huge difference between our generation who was itching to get out of home, to this one that is content to live in the basement so to speak. I don’t know what happened as most people raise their kids the way they were raised. But, my kids think they should get paid for everything they do at 13&11, and I have had to explain chores are their part as they pay no bills.

Yea, things have changed, as much my fault as theirs. The upside is having 3 additional shooters around lol. I told mine to save up their money as long as it took to buy a place of their own if they wanted to. “As long as I have a roof over my head , y’all do” kinda thang. They’re close to moving out , making that money lol.

Crap as I was looking for an ak47 that had rails from where the dust cover of standard Ak is to the end of receiver. As I want the reliability of an ak(piston gas system, looser tolerances) with the ability to add optics, light, an/peq15, etc. I guess I just might have to bastardize a Norinco spiker Ak with holes to add a side mount if I can find a few more sets of ra regulate scope mounts and railed handguards. Which I know will kill the value of the spiker. If someone can think of a better option like buying a differnt Ak that has bayonet that would be helpful. I want a bayonet as an Ak with no bullets or bayonet is just a paper weight😂. Thanks for any help.

Ever get hit in the head with a paperweight?

they all on back order wtf

People have chimed in on some great options.
However you specifically asked for the gas system and im assuming you want something thats familiar to that of AR controls.

I dont know of a long stroke gas piston system outside of PWS.
However I dont like the fact it wont take AK mags like the Disssent with the short stroke has system or the KS47 with the DI system.

It would be neat to mate a KS47 lower with a PWS upper and modify the BCG to work with the KS47 lower.
The only downside I can think of is ease of reliability and the bolt being thinner than the CMMG

With the prices of 7.62x39 going up why not a 300 AAC.
you can get subsonics 200gr .70 ( might have to tinker a little with the gas settings to run properly)
supers for about .50 per.
