M Mward2552Looking to get my lower engraved does anyone know a place to have this done.... ive looked at dobbs but they say it's $75 to engrave that seems kind of steep since most people say it cost between 35-60.So i would like to at most pay 60 anyone know a place $60 or less to engrave my lower thanks in advance
One thing should be noted here. Dobbs is using a hard engraver, not a laser. Cleaner lines, smaller type; MUCH better looking than laser engraving.
That's what it's called! I couldn't remember. I googled "hard engraver font reducer" and nothing came up.Yep! They use a pantograph. Turns out great. It's so nice that I had them engrave the slide of a 1911 that was given as a USMC retirement gift for a SgtMaj. Flawless.

Fair enough, but I have several examples from Dobbs both before he had the pantograph and after. I much prefer the look of the hard engraving to the laser. But you are right, as with most things, it comes down to personal preference.Gonna have to disagree with the Pantagraph vs the laser ( Cleaner lines and smaller type). I've have receivers done both ways. It's all personal preference. The ones that's are laser engraved by Paul at insertmouldingsoultions are clean, deep and small, plus they not super bright shinnig aluminum when finished. You really have to look to find them. Hard engraving enables more of a factory look if the right font is chosen.

Given my experience with WO's, I'd say it wasn't a compliment.First time I had something engraved at Dobbs, I said to Brian, "Oh, you use a pantograph." He said no one had ever known what it was called before.
A crusty old CWO4 Gunner once told me, "You, sir, are a veritable font of worthless knowledge". Still ain't figured out if he meant it as a complement or not.
I'm hell on wheels at trivia night!

Also, if they ask on Trivia Night how to spell his name, go with a "y" instead of an "i."
