Edited post: gun is modified, see below

TLDR: the answer is probably “clean it” but I’ve never had a gun stop working on me so I wanted to ask.

M&P 2.0 new style trigger

Was out in the woods today, and I pull out the M&P, load it. click. Rack. Click…
It has very very light primer strikes, barely a mark. Some primers I couldn’t even see a mark. I Tried a few different ammo brands. Wouldn’t fire anything. I should’ve taken a pic of the primers but didn’t.

This gun has a couple hundred rounds through it, all suppressed. It hasn’t really ever been cleaned other than bore snake and a couple drops of lube.

Last range trip it functioned fine

Gun specs: stock slide. Ed brown guide rod and spring, frame has apex trigger springs installed

When I got home I compared it to a carry comp that has around 50 rounds unsuppressed on it. Striker channel liner looks the same and the striker looks the same, so I don’t think it’s broken.

I assume it’s just dirty from suppressor use and I need to take it apart and clean it thoroughly. I didn’t think you needed to take it apart all the way to clean it but maybe I do.

Black slide is the one that isn’t working.
FDE slide is a very lightly used working gun

Talk to me about this guide rod.

Didn’t know ed brown made M&P parts. Thought they were 1911 focused.

What weight spring? Possible the gun is hanging ever so slightly out of battery? Or coming out of battery when the trigger is pulled? (Not sure if M&P does this, but Glocks can when the recoil spring is massively lighter than the striker spring)

My bet is suppressor use has gunked up the firing pin channel.

I’m not familiar with any real mods to internals as I’ve always ran mine 100% stock outside of replacing the sights and running an optic.

Thousands of rounds and I just run a bore snake and hit it with some CLP and an old toothbrush with no issues this far. I don’t have any NFA items… yet

They make a lot of m&p parts. The one I’m currently using is the 13# in this gun. It allows me to shoot 158 and 165 grain subs. The 15# as well as the stock spring run up to 147 just fine. I run a 15# ed brown in my carry comp and it’s really close to stock

The gun was not out of battery, I tried tapping the back also to make sure. FWIW the 11# spring is very light (can air rack) and I have had that issue when I run that spring.

Also the ammo was 150gr syntec and 147gr HUSH. both are go-tos

A month or so ago. Bore snaked, wiped down and lubed but not disassembled further.

That’s about all I do… maybe some debris got blown into the firing pin channel while running suppressed.

I doubt swapping out recoil springs would be an issue outside of not cycling specific loads. Money on debris in the channel 🤙

What’s the best way to clean the firing pin channel? I can learn how to disassemble it, but can I just spray it out or does it need disassembly?

Super simple, just like a Glock. I’d disassemble and spray the channel with some cleaner under pressure with the red wand tip (CLP/Ballistol) and wipe down as normal trying to make sure their isn’t any left over cleaner in the channel (that attracts crap to bond to)

Vid below, skip to around the 2:40 mark

do you have 2k rounds down the pipe without cleaning? did you inspect the firing pin? do you know the ammo? one time i bought some ammo that required a hammer pistol (vs striker)
