Looking to pick up an M1 Garand with strong bore and rifling. Would prefer war time stock and minimal to no pitting. I don’t care of the make as long as it’s not a mix master rifle. I just like the rifle to have a little bit of character is all. Will pay cash for anyone looking to sell but please if you’re asking over $900 I’m not interested. CMP still sells these for $750-$850 in better shape then most, I’m just lazy and don’t want to deal with paperwork.

Best Option is just order one and you know it has been gone through and has been tested for function.
Also if you have an issue CMP will fix it.

They fire 3 or 4 rounds and make sure all the parts are there. They do not replace anything unless missing or broken.

You get 70 year old springs, worn parts, and some creative mods done by foreign armorers. The Garand is a robust gun, and these CMP guns will work when received, but many still need a full inspection and tuneup. A full spring kit at a bare minimum, and spline work on the barrel as well as follower rod truing/replacement.

The CMP guns are good for what they are, but they are not what was sent out inn the 60s or 70s, those were essentially fresh overhauled rifles. Today's are not.

Well it’s got to be better then buying from someone in a private sale I suppose? I want to make a trip to the cmp store and hand pick mine but I hate driving that far so might not happen unless some friends want to road trip with me.
