Anyone out there know a good m14/m1a gunsmith? I stumbled into a very nice poly, but it short strokes. I have went thru the entire gun but cannot find the source of the problem. Thx

Yes plug is tight. Piston freely moves when you flip the gun. Everything is choice clean and lubed with a dry gas system. 1/16 dril bit can go thru ports and into barrel freely (when valve is open of course). Yes the recoil spring may be stiff, but do I order a new one or shorten this one? Mag is clean and follower moves freely. Fires first round fine and extracts, but won't strip the next round. Same with surplus ball, new zq1, and fed match.

Try ore than one mag?

By tilt test I was thinking in addition to piston freely moving was op rod with recoll Spring removed sliding freely when tilted (no binding of op rod against barrel of stock (Google tilt test)

Yes you can try trimming a coil off the spring.

Brian Ott in DOuglasville is a good smith.
