M1A Suppressor Muzzle Brakes

The M1A uses an operating rod, very similar to the Garand.
Just a couple inches shorter, and it is pushed by a piston instead of direct gas.
M1A or M14 op rods can bend. I had one break 20 years ago. (Springfield Armory repaired it at no charge).

very thorough video! those parts look great. gonna be a very nice oldschool new school setup.

Yeah I think I'm going to go ahead and order the gas lock and plug. Think I might make a run to Dobbs Defense this weekend and see if they might be able to shed some light on my brake/ can options.

What about this gem? 90$ and gives you the basic thread pitch for whatever hider/adapter you want.

Yeah that definitely looks like a good option. I just wonder how well a shim would fit between the brake and sight post area with that set screw poking out a bit. Of course there's a good chance that you could probably find a shorter one at your local hardware store too.

Im pretty sure you would just screw it in. The picture is just a stock photo. Heres an assembled one, no issues.

At this point if I can get it to work I'd like to get SWR Specwar brake/ can combo. If that adapter is as solid as it works and in 5/8x24 I don't see any reason why that couldn't happen

I read a little on over gassing as well it appears (not an official statement) that the problem is less damage and more getting the gas blowback in your face making it more difficult for a follow up shot.
Adj gas plug will moderate this effect just don't release so much that you have a bolt action.
