Somebody ought to check the parachutes in the inventory of the Malaysian paratroopers.
They might have some kids' book bag backpacked mixed in, and some jumpers might not notice the difference.

Iirc this was a usual part of this special forces training/demonstration and you are correct, he some how forgot the vest.

For a few minutes he could say I got shot in the chest and I had a bullet proof vest on and it saved my life.....but just for a few minutes

That vest looked like one of those vests that shotgun shooters wear just to carry shells in. What a dope.
