Nailed it. But the claustrophobia was real.

Were the bats bad?

I’ve been there a couple of times. Once in the late 1960s and another in 2019. The first time I went they had a petrified Indian from 500 BC who was crushed by a rock on display in a case. The second time I went I asked them where was “lost John” that’s what they called him. They said the display was removed in the 1970s due to sensitivity concerns with native Americans.

Were the bats bad?

Unfortunately, no. The lady said that something called "white nose syndrome" had wiped out 90% of their bat population. Didn't see a single one. We had to walk on some soaked antibiotic sponged deck thing on the way out as part of treating the issue.

Mind over matter as long as there is someone with you

About 60 of us in the group...it was quite a different experience to the private tour we had of Onyx Cave earlier in the day when it was just us and another family with the guide.

bring your own flashlight (pocket size) just in case and if you want to see something the guide does not light up.

I did...and I got chastised for it twice. Apparently that's how the front and rear guard communicate emergencies is to shine their flashlight around like crazy.
