Manual transmission. Need to learn ASAP

Besides the endorsement on my man card, I need to learn to drive a manual transmission for a new job I got. The problem is I don't know of anyone with a manual car, besides an unwilling friend with a $100k+ Porsche.

Money is tight and it might be a very odd request but here goes. I have a 555 brick of Winchester .22lr for anyone who might be able and more importantly willing to help me out with this.

Or if you have an idea of how to go about this it'd be appreciated. I don't think any rental places have standards available.

Have you ever been on a motorcycle? And do you understand the basic concept of a manual trans as far as knowing why you shift and why you need to shift? If you know all of that then you should pick it up really quick.

Congrats on being a real man and lieing on the application so you coukd get the job haha this has got to be a funny situation for you.

I learned, while working at a Chevy dealership, on a GEO Metro. Clutch was very forgiving and smooth. Then we took in a little GEO Tracker that felt the same way. I think it makes a difference as to what kind of car you should practice on. Porsche? No but an older Sentra yes. I drove a friends Boxster S once and I had a 6 speed car and it begged to be driven fast. Very smooth car.

Sorry I can't help you out. I just replaced the clutch in my G35 and no one drives it but me.

Getting my flywheel resurfaced was more than 2 bricks of .22 at flipper prices.

I have a Ford Ranger that I would be willing to let you learn on. I have a VW TDI as well but that is too easy so I won't offer that (plus it is more expensive to fix if you break it). The Ranger is getting tired and would be good to learn with. Once you can drive it you can drive anything.

I learned to drive stick in an 86' Dodge Ram with a slant six that was geared way to high.

I tried to teach my (older) brother to drive a stick (35+ years ago) and after 30 seconds in the car I knew my Mustang was in danger. He looked down and said "Wow, two break pedals!"

Yep. My first car as a kid was a manual. I had driven motorcycles for a few years prior by that time. When we went to look at it and buy it, my dad paid the owner and I looked at him and said "But I don't know how to drive a stick shift." He looked at me and said "Well, then I guess the car can stay here." I drove it home.
