What's something that he can really use and/or appreciate while living on base? A nice folding knife? Watch?
He loves to hunt, fish, shoot, hike, camp - anything outside.

He's not going to have much free time outside. He will train and then go back to the barracks where he will sit for hours and hours every day. CRAZY amounts of down time.

Get him a nice laptop computer and an external hard drive. Everyone on base will have something similar and they share movies and games. Been there,done that. If it weren't for my laptop I would have went crazy.
