Marksman forum?

I like this for a couple of reasons.

1. I really like discussion different scopes for long range
2. Sharing info on ammunition accuracy
3. discussing ballistic coefficients
4. Most people don't want to talk windrift, holdover, and calculating your dope.

I use Reddit.com/r/longrange from time to time for talk that I would designate marksman.

I'm also interested in a good Ballistics calculator for the Iphone, I've even seen MOA calculators for very good calculations on exactly how small your group is.

These 4 reasons could not be said better, IMO

Could Steve make an instructor Badge to keep the kids from acting like pros?

I like this idea but would rather have more information available....IE pistols, rifles, shotguns, ammo, field craft, etc.
That was my thinking as well. A one stop shop for it all, tips for all platforms, 3 gun comps, ammo eval, wind and humidity effects, etc. Instead of just talking about buying guns, optics, and such as we usually do it would be focused on gun lovers improving upon their skills regardless of equipment, although it should also include unbiased information pertaining to each piece of gear.I think instructors badges will be a great way to sift out the self named "pros"

Just put a feather in your cap, lick your thumb, wipe it across your front sight, hold the thumb in the air to test the wind and blaze away...Could you trust the information?

Well, I'll throw this out there... I taught weapons for 4 years at Ft.McCoy. On a AR platform w/ the standard A2 sights ( or carry handel ) I can show anyone how to make hits on a man size target out to 600 meters ( appx. 550 yds ) The problem is that I dont have a 600m range to do it on. If your running back irons, I can make you good for 300m and in...

We definitely need to talk. I'd be interested in some classes, especially for long distances. Ive been eye'n a couple of places in GA, but it seems you need a membership for most of them.

and i heard one of the bases here in GA lets civilians use their range which goes out to 800m i think. i forgot which base it is though.

Or the ODT members can chip in on a big patch of land...;)
