Hello everyone. Today i went to Clayton, ga. I ran into a marlin 60 sbw stainless model. My gf likes it and for 199 id like to get it for her.
I know Marlin had some issues with their QC in the past.
Did they ever get it right?

If anyone has any experience with a newer model marlin 60 any feedback would be great!

Great rifle. They have a kind of hard plastic bolt buffer that will crumble on really old guns and cause problems with the bolt hanging up, not too terribly hard to replace. That is about the only issue I have seen and that is on 20-30 year old guns.

$199 sounds a bit high, Academy Sports has them about $159 regular price.
I vote for one at least old enough to have New Haven Conn origin.
That would signify made before Remington bought Marlin and
moved production elsewhere (TN?) Check your local pawn shops.

Great guns... i do like the older ones... glenfields...more mag capacity... the are a pain to take down for cleaning as a few have stated. Lots of options with 22's... :grouphug:
Yes they are a pain to take apart, but then again I went about twenty years of occasional use, just cleaning the bore and bolt face, and when I took it apart it was only mildly dirty.
