Marlin 75c

I have a marlin 75c, the problem is when you try to chamber the first cartridge if you don't do it really quick it will jam , it shoots fine in semi auto after you get the first cartridge lined up , any ideas about what the problem could be?

Crud on the feed ramp? Give it a thorough cleaning. Even remove the trigger group completely and give it a good bath and light brushing. Use real gun cleaner, not brake cleaner and lube it up.
