Maybe a dumb question

Seems like .300 is the new go-to for suppression. If I wasn't ever gonna use a can, I'd go 6.5cm or 6.8spc. If I was looking for something non-nato that is.

Been mulling this over in my mind also. Im just hesitant to get away from nato rounds for some reason.

Do you mean 6.5 Grendel? The 6.5CM is an AR10 platform. I agree though, the 6.5CM is also a great round, as well as the grendel in the AR15.

I don't care if I'm in my backyard picking off tree rats, at an indoor range, at a hunt an hour away or a lifetime hunt across the globe, at a match, or for defense. I expect my guns to perform at a high level. A failure isn't acceptable. A failure to happen because I shaved off a few hundo? That's on me and something I can easily avoid. I also want to know that my kit performs. If I miss, it's on me. I can correct me issues on the fly. I can't correct a poor gun or ammo or optics.

Yes I did. I got Creedmoor on my mind cause we were shooting a cm bolt gun yesterday lol. Good longe range round. Kind of felt like a .308.

If I miss, it's on me. I can correct me issues on the fly. I can't correct a poor gun or ammo or optics.

100%, I buy quality rifles because when I miss, I know its my fault.

Not bashing gear, btw. If youre smart and know what to look for you can get cheaper factory guns shooting. I dont want to discourage anyone from shooting, especially based on something silly like cost.

Sometimes people just need to pay more attention to quality over quantity. Do you really need that 13th AR in your safe? How bout get a couple quality ones, put decent optics on em instead? Agree, not a "poors" bash or anything of that nature. Usually people can afford higher end stuff if they stop some of their stupid purchases. Sound familiar @Rwjeter ? Lol

Cost vs benefit. Can you get a reliable 300 blackout rifle for far less than $1200? Absolutely! If my rifle costs $700, and someone else’s cost $1200, can they shoot $500 better than me? Doubt it. Again, guns are tools, not every job calls for Snap-on, some jobs are just fine with Craftsman, but never buy your tools from the Dollar Store. I’ve been earning a living with a rifle for 20 years, my service rifle and personal rifles are very different. When I’m in the woods, hogs don’t return fire, so I might not demand the same quality out of my hog rifle. If I did, it would be wasting money.

We think differently. I put as much into my hunting rigs as I do my self-defense and service rigs, including the optics. I don’t want my hunt ruined by poor accuracy or reliability. To me, that is never a waste of money.

Awesome. You shoot for a living, are you even considering the OP’s question? I shoot for a living too, and when people don’t know the difference between 5.56 and 300 blackout I don’t think telling him about “suppressed 16” .300Blk out to 400yds with perfect accuracy, using 220grn subs”. Just my opinion. I get what you’re saying, but probably better info for a more experienced shooter.

If I can make that shot, ANYONE can make that shot with the proper training. Why limit yourself with sub-standard gear?
