Member negatives

Ok. I’m confused. My understanding has always been that no negatives are allowed to be posted unless a member reneges on a pm confirmed deal by not showing up, backing out, etc. I think negs are also allowed if a member fails to disclose something not obvious like a gun that jams, missing an internal part, etc.
But as I check out some members who might be potential trading partners feedback I am noticing negatives like “we had a verbal deal and guy backed out” or “he told me this or that and didn’t follow thru” or “we were discussing a deal and he stopped replying”.
What the heck? How are these negs being charged to a member?

The problem being mods cannot trust non private messaging conversations, (they can be altered). Reviewing feedback before posting would be a viable option, but would clog up the rate of feedback being posted.

I believe the member has to fill up or ask for a review. Sending a message to MODs by the private button on the help page. I truly believe any of the MODs would do a fair job looking into it. Just needed to be challenged.

Only a (select) group of moderators can review private messages.

Well, based on the above rules why would the mods allow a negative based on a “verbal conversation” to ever be posted in the first place? I mean it violates all the rules above right?
I guess I’m just not understanding something...do mods review and approve negs? Before they are posted against a member? Or is the neg just posted without scrutiny for meeting above guidelines and then it’s just up to the poor sob who got a neg (that should have never been allowed under site rules) to contest the neg?
I’m not trying to start **** here, just trying to understand how it works.
The Negative and Positive reviews left as feedback are automated however, is only done so when initiated by the end member(s) manually clicks feedback.
Have had times when folks don't even leave anything. But to you point the negatives pass through same as the positives and in either case the recipient gets the notification of the feedback. From there they can review it or ignore or dispute it. So no there is no review for each and every transaction hope that clears it up.

Thanks,

I got a negative on a deal where I meet the person twice days apart for them to examine the gun then decided at a later date they wanted to trade. They then came back and said the gun was mis represented, after they had examined and researched it. As you can see that negative has remained and still bothers me.

It does. Answers my question exactly. Thanks for your time.
And knowing this...I think a lot of members have some negs that they should be disputing lol.

And this is what I meant when I said I would like to know how many other negs this member has posted...the neg sounds a lot like just hearsay.

you can leave neutral though saying you had a verbal agreement and he backed out or something, i dont see the issue
Neither did I, but I had a neutral removed. Guy had committed to a deal, price, date and place, just no time. Then on the day of, he "decided to sell it to the neighbor." Rather than leaving him a neg, I hit him with a neutral. He then retaliated with a neutral. I reported mine and both were removed and I was told not enough info for any feedback to stick. :tsk:

We have to go by the rules that Joab posted above. We've removed a few that we would have liked to have left, but they did not have the "committed deal" info required for a feedback.

I understand that, but I left a "neutral" feedback, which has no guidelines laid out what so ever in the feedback section posted. It was removed based on the standard for a "negative" feedback...which is a bit like saying steak is defined as medium rare and then calling a well done steak a hot dog.
