Memorable Quotes from Dad

My dad was my favorite person in the world, Marine having spent two tours in Vietnam, very easy going, very laid back, but not very tolerant of disrespect or excessive BS!

To me when I was 16 and thought I knew everything, "If you want act like a man, expect to get disciplined like a man!"
To me when I got old enough to start wrestling and horseplaying with him (which he didn't for), "I can't stop you from jumpin' on, but I can sure enough help you off!"
To me when I began managing crews "Work work ethic is not a personality trait, it's taught/learned."
To me when I was young and working on jobs with him - every day at lunch "Off your a** and on your feet, out of the shade and into the heat!"

My dad could do many things. I knew he was awesome. Whenever he showed or taught me something new, I'd tell him how cool it was or thank him. His standard answer was always: "There ain't nothing short about me but my peter, and I'm proud of every foot of it!" I'll never forget that saying......or my dad. Been gone eight years. :rip: Gonna go drink some bourbon now....

"Dance with the one that brung ya"

"Think about this before you do something stupid"

"Get your education, save that money"

"Roll Tide"(he is a Bama fan)

He would sing "school days, school days, dear old golden rule days" to us kids as he drove us to school, drove us crazy.

He's still living but does not get around well anymore. Great fellow.

The old man was a good one.

He used to tell me that "Things are worth exactly what the man with the cash in his hand was willing to pay on the day you want to sell. No more, No less.

He would also say "Son that Pocketknife is the most expensive, least effective screwdriver you'll ever own"

Used to also give me the line about being able to tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet.

He was smarter than I ever gave him credit for and had quite a few more, but those are some of the ones that immediately come to mind.
God I miss him.
