Precisely what it amounts to.....So just to be clear... you bought a USED luxury car and bitching about repair cost???
From what I can tell, your car is worth about $15,000 to $20,000 (20k being on the VERY HIGH end) You are looking at putting $5,000 dollars into a depreciating asset that you'll never get your money back out of... you are literally throwing money away, when you could put that money that you would spend on the repair, and sell the very thing that is costing you money for a reliable car, that is dependable and sporty.Mercedes give me a quote for 5k that's why I'm trying to see if someone can give me a good options
How about sell the Benz and buy another used Honda, have 2 x Ultra reliable vehicles…Cliff Notes of the 75 posts so far:

Benz dealer quoted him 5k for the repair and he was hoping you might know an independent shop in the area who works on the European cars who has a more reasonable hourly rate.
Otherwise he is going to have to sell the Honda to pay for the Benz repairs. ☹️

Anywhere is cheaper than the dealer. Being that I worked for car dealerships I can say that with authority.I think he was looking for a local owned shop that specialized in MB repairs that might be cheaper than the dealer
The girlfriend is not having any of that nonsense. She wants a man who can pile 5k in cash on the driveway and set it on fire. How about sell the Benz and buy another used Honda, have 2 x Ultra reliable vehicles…

Or having a female in your life........I keep asking mine where the money tree is.......The girlfriend is not having any of that nonsense. She wants a man who can pile 5k in cash on the driveway and set it on fire.
Which is about the same result as owning some used luxury cars.![]()

But since they told me my car have problem i just winna fix it under 2k not 5How about sell the Benz and buy another used Honda, have 2 x Ultra reliable vehicles…
thank you so much sir i really appreciated the advice . and sorry to hear that wish you nothing but the best health may good bless you and your family sir 🙌🙌🙌🙌☺️☺️☺️It could be a number of things. The head gasket being one. There is also a hole in the bottom of most water pumps that will leak slowly if the bearing gets to thin around the shaft. Usually a florescent die they add to the coolant to inspect it with a light to see if there are any slow leaks.
Do you have a sweet smell in the cabin. This would denote a leak in the heater core. However that would be evident with moisture in the passenger floor. A lot of times it's under the mat and you won't notice it unless you take the mat out. It will also fog up the inside of the windshield or blow steam out of the vent when it's real cold and heating up.
Now If it's a head gasket then I would recommend a Benz mechanic only. As said previously euro cars are extremely complicated. They are durable but when a problem pops up there are a lot of specialty tools that only a authorized repair shop would have due to the expense. Moisture exiting the tail pipe when you start it up will be present. If the problem is adjacent to a oil passage you can dip your finger in the coolant and see if oil is present in your radiator. Also coolant could be in the oil turning the oil into a milky color. If it's just a crack or rip in the gasket that connects to the combustion chamber that's when excessive moisture exits the exhaust pipe.
If you are lucky it's just the water pump bearing worn and leaking from under the pump. It's hard to detect with all the crap surrounding the pump. The problem will get worse over time and then pump will fail all together from bearing wear. It's not a ball bearing but a soft metal bearing that gets lubricated by the coolant.
I hate to the bearer of bad news but take it to a Benz repair shop so the repair is noted in the repair records. It's very important you keep those records up to maintain the resale. A Benz with no repair history is a bad news deal when you go to sell it. I don't have the necessary tools work on those cars. If I new exactly was I could repair it but I just don't have a shop to work out of. I also not up to the task physically speaking. My back and hips are shot I couldn't be of any help.
So goes the old saying if you want to play big you've gotta pay big. Not a humorous saying but in the case of a Benz that holds true all the way around. So many systems are packed in around a lot of the engine and that makes it a real bitch to service and repair. My recommendation is take it to a certified repair shop. Like @Basstracker said don't let just anyone work on that car.
yes sir something like that but i don't sell my Honda i bought that car bran new there is no problem with that car i just want to fix benz , as i said so far nothing wrong with it just the dealer said i have coolant leak and oil leak after i put the coolant there no sign show low coolant .everything become normal but mentally just worriedCliff Notes of the 75 posts so far:
