As a coincidence, my daughter called me last night and asked if I would help one of her teachers find their missing diamond and gold earring she believes she droppd on the small playground at the school. I will be headed that way later this morning to assist. Metal detecting is a very relaxing activity for me as a retired widower and especially if I can help another person locate something precious they lost. No charge for recovery. The earrings were given to the teacher by her now deceased mother. I hope I am successful and can see her smile. Thanks.

this always looked like fun, but who wants to find old pull tabs, nails and screws??? Yes, you might find an Indian head penny or old dime, but the return on time and investment is poor......in my opinion.

But prove me wrong.

Used to comb the playground on Saturdays at in middle school to get all the ice cream money kids lost made a pretty good bit over the years lol

I am not into it, but check out Tn Sharpshooter on YouTube. He's big into it and also squirrel hunting. Can't say anything about his metal detecting videos, but he knows his stuff with hunting.

Your right, if somebody thinks their gonna get rich doing it. But I do it for fun and don’t sell anything I find. I love history, doing the research looking at old maps finding a spot on the map. Then going to the spot and actually finding stuff.View attachment 6995942

very nice infantry button! I have been detecting for a few years but nothing serious until this past fall. I’ve been asking permissions and doing research around my area. I use a few websites that show old Ariel photos vs modern photos and look for old home sites. I’m hopelessly addicted to the hobby now. I’m currently using the MineLab Vanquish 440 and found a few things but I’m really hoping for a silver coin of any kind!

Thank you sir. I started detecting about 10 years ago and went a decent amount then I didn’t go any again until this year. The best website I’ve found for old roads and old home sites is historicaerials.com. I started out detecting with a Garett ace 350 and loved it, but now I have a Nokta the legend and man it is a whole different ball game. I love finding silver coins in old yards
