So I took my Trusty Mosin PU out to the CMP range today. I VERY much enjoy shooting her and use this gun for targets and for deer.

So caveat here....

I NEVER do this so follow along.

I heated the crap out of her.

I got her Smoking hot.

Modern 200 gr ammo.

Modern PPU ammo.

HOT Yugo Milsurp.

Bulgarian.

Russian .

She began to get erratic.

So my question is....

What is the Russian Sniper Man/Woman Soldier's max rate of fire?

What happens if you run into a company of SS coming across the Volga?

Are you contacting the enemy only with a cold barrel?

Were Russian snipers given Nagant revolvers as a side arm?

OR did the simply dis-engage until cool down?

This is all theory and subjective so have fun with it.

According to Zaitsev's book, snipers around Stalingrad only took one or two shots from a location before hiding again. There was mention of trench soldiers soaking their barrel wrapping with snow or urine

Makes me wonder about how close and how often the German and Russian Sniping teams were to each other. Not to mention just regular combat taking place all around you. The Snow trick makes sens and urine in summer if you have nothing else.
