Missed my court date yesterday...

Most things online talk about the defendant missing not the plaintiff like me in this case. Might have to go that route....

In the counter suit, he is the plaintiff and YOU ARE THE DEFENDANT....
The court dismissed your suit due to your absence and let his go forward...since you were not there , he was granted judgement by default......
Unless this involves a lot of money, it may cost you more trying to go forward than it is worth.

I use Microsoft outlook as my email platform. The most important part of that is the calendar. I always update and never miss. Try finding you a calendar on your iPhone or email to always use from now on.

I can't speak for the OP, but I can even screw this up. You gotta enter the right date to get reminded on the right date lol.

Just file a motion to "open" the default, or "re-open" the case that was closed by default.
A "motion" means you're asking the judge to take this action.
You will want to give a reason why. You could do that in the Motion itself, or in a separate "brief" that gives the facts (your excuse, your circumstances, your story) and the law (what Code section or Rule of Court allows you to have the case re-opened).
People miss court often, for a variety of reasons.
Act quickly and explain yourself (but don't try to blame other people-- take responsibility for your blunder, but point out that you weren't blowing off the case or conceding that the other side ought to win).

If the other side opposes the motion (and maybe even if they don't) it will be set for a "hearing" on your motion. That's just a chance to talk about it and orally state your reasons in front of the judge, and respond to what the other side says.

Good luck. (And I mean that; I'm not saying that like Marco from Tropoja told Liam Neeson).
