If you can’t find a 870 Police, the Wingmaster is the same gun with a fancier finish and furniture. Pick up a Wingmaster and change out the barrel, add a magtube, etc. As a matter of fact, I’ve got a barrel.

500 and 590 receivers are all aluminum. The A1's have a heavier barrel and metal trigger guard.

I've owned all of them. the 500, 590, 590A1 20", 590A1 18.5" and shockwave.

The shockwave has a lot of recoil for what it is.

Were it me, I'd do the 590A1 with GRS. The ghost rings are solid and work well, and aren't a limiting factor and are easy to teach.

In fact, I have GRS on my shockwave.

I've used regular Mossberg 500 shotguns for years. But I HAVE had the plastic safety break on one. I've also seen other people's Moss 500 shotguns where the little plastic tabs on the trigger group broke off. I think the metal ones are far superior. But, will I pay $100 more to get metal instead of plastic? Probably not.

If I were to buy a Mossberg or Remington pump shotgun, I'd get one of those aftermarket parts sets for the shell lifter mechanism that allows the super-short shells to feed reliably. if you use those shorty tactical buckshot shells, you might get 2 or 3 extra rounds in your magazine tube. More ammo is more better. But I hear a factory standard Mossberg or Remington will not feed them reliably.

I don't have a 590A1, but I love my 500's,590, mav 88's, and 930 SPX. I don't have near the exposure to stuff like a lot on here do, but I have seen a couple 500's have trigger resetting problems. I personally have one mav 88 that fires upside down (only) when you shuck the action real hard!(without touching the trigger) lol I'm pretty sure something is broken, but I haven't gotten around to figuring it out. They all can have problems.

If I had to pick one... it'd be the 590 and the 930 spx(been reliable so far, fairly new to me).

I have the Opsol adapter for my Shockwave and run Aquila mini shells, reliable so far. I think I have 7-8 rounds it it with minimal recoil. They dont make the adapter for Remington.

shockwave with Tacstar adapter and SBA3 brace- adds about 3-4" to OAL vs. the birds head grip.

Also, the 14" GRS barrel is about 1/2" shorter than the bead sight barrel

Tacstar adapter is metal and heavy. The Ergo adapter is plastic and has a funky grip angle.

That is AWESOME! What'd that setup run you if you don't mind me asking? is that 5+1 capacity? How's the recoil with the brace?
