I looked into it. At scale there is a lot of labor cost/overhead. I have ****ake logs for my own use I hope will start producing this year but I'm not sure they will. They might have gotten dried out where I put them first. Had them in a corner of the greenhouse and I don't think they got watered often enough. Moved them to a wet, muddy spot by the creek too late I fear. I like building mushroom towers instead now. Less labor and produce longer. Have about 12 of them now of different varieties that mycelium is working through but haven't started producing yet.

I had 6 river birch logs(with ****aki) I thought were never going to produce. I piled them under my gutter spout and was rewarded with several flushes.

Those are excellent. There's very little one can find to eat that is a wholly new experience. Lion's mane is one.

I too find myself staying at the local grocery stores, for fear of sampling the wrong one and never finding my way of the forest

There are really only a handful of choice edible mushrooms in GA. Once you have them, it's really obvious.

There are others that hobbyists will tell you are great but it's really just that they are weirdos with a peculiar and fanatical interest.

I've never heard of them. The only mushrooms I'm familiar with are on my pizzas
