Brought home a late xmas present last night,,,,a citation from our local municipalities citing him for holding his cell phone in hand while driving to work.

Yes, I have chastised him severely and pulled his driving privileges.

$50 and 1 point in the state of Georgia...….I will have him in front of the magistrate to fulfill his obligation the first week of Feb.

My question is this,,,,I have read that if he shows where he has purchased a bracket to hold his phone ( which we should have already done ) to the magistrate, that they may let him slide with a wrist slap,,,,or maybe just the fine. I am mostly concerned with the "point" at this time.

Anyone else have to cross this bridge?

I would have him take Defensive Driving pre-emptively and buy a phone holder and then go plead your case to the judge. The last time I had to do this with a teen the judge said he didn't want to punish the parent with higher insurance premiums and then gave my son a bunch of community service hours (it was for speeding, not use of a phone). I get to do it again on Friday (different son...).

If that's all he has done he sounds like a good kid they probably won't be to hard on him hopefully is my thoughts I would do my best to make him show that me has tried to rectify his mistake

A defensive driving course can be done tonight on line (or anytime). Can't hurt.
