I bet the fish cares less than us but having a little experience with painting like this… and since you asked…

I think your base color is more yellow/less green than the original. With an air brush, less is sometimes more. Thin it way way down and lower the pressure a bit. Multiple passes with thin layers. I’ve had better luck keeping an airbrush working that way… it also makes blending in your spots easier. Looks like a great start and a cool hobby.

I think the problem with my dots was that I tried to make them freehand. If I oversprayed in the center them I thought I may be able to use just the air to move them outward. On the next ones I'm going to make a template for them.
