My First Visit to the Cabelas in Acworth

From their website.
"Cabela's brand clothing and footwear is guaranteed for the lifetime of the product under normal wear and tear and defects in workmanship."
Anyone have an experience with their guarantee?

I've heard it's not that great. I got a gift card for Christmas, probably just order something online.

I don't understand why people believe brick and mirror stores should offer the same price or better than online deep discounters offer? I mean besides the amazing facility and the cost to build and maintain it, you have to pay employees to provide customer service. Everytime I hear someone bitching about AO, BassPro or Cabela's prices, I usually ask them, "compared to???" and they typically answer with "CTD" or some online store they've found on slickguns.

I do, I have an experience with their guarantee. Though I haven't shopped there (online) much in the past few years I use to do a lot of business with them. I still buy my Khaki type pants and heavy cotton/canvas shirts from them.

Many years ago I bought their top of the line Gortex guidewear rain gear. I figured it for a once in a lifetime purchase and bought the very top of the line gear. It cost me maybe $800. Stupidly I left the jacket in the tool box of the truck and some oil or gas leaked on it from the chainsaw, so a little of the bottom changed color a bit. I was up in Pennsy visiting my brother when he and his boys said "lets go to Cabelas". So I grabbed the jacket out of my truck and jumped in theirs. When we got there I walked straight up to customer service, showed them the spot and said I'd like another one of these. They checked my history and saw I purchased them (like 10 or 15 years before). They did not ask what happened, they just told me where to find the new ones. Unfortunately the newer style which sold for $150 less than I paid, did not have some of the really nice features my old one had. (Things like the strap on the top of the hood that you could lengthen if you were wearing a hat or shorten if you weren't wearing one, as well as some other small pockets here and there). Even though they would have given me a $350 to $400 replacement I left with my old one.

I've noticed that the price has come down considerably on some of their gear, but then some of the features have come up missing. I guess they sell more $350 Gortex guidewear jackets than they did $500 ones. I've owned this rain gear for just about 20 years. It shows very little wear, washes up great and I expect I'll be using it whenever it's needed untill they day I die. (Then my son will take it, he's had his eyes on it since the first hunt when he got wet and I didn't, lol.

If you can find time during the weeks it's not too bad. I've slowly been using up a $100 gift card when I fly in under the radar while everyone else is working their 9-5s. I've had luck with hard to find powders and ammo.
