This sweet girl is my hero. Me and 2 grandkids, Kensli and Cooper, were on one side of a wood fence and Lacy was on the other. We heard a weird bark that sounded like she exploded, never heard anything like it. Trying to figure out why she would make that weird noise, it occurred to me that she got bit by a snake. We killed a big copperhead in the driveway a month or so ago and I got scared that it was another one. I told the kids to get on the porch and I went to the back yard and found Lacy on the ground whining and bleeding from 2 punctures in her muzzle an inch behind her nose. It was a snake! I pulled my hole puncher and went to the place we heard her bark and there was the tail of a copperhead going under the fence to exactly where me and my grandkids had been standing 3 feet on the other side..... I went back to the other side and mechanically separated the snake's head with my powder actuated lead delivery system. I picked Lacy up and carried her to the porch. Kensli, Cooper and I took care of her. Then I remembered that the dogs hadn't been barking at all, just the weird yelp from Lacy. I truly believe that she saw the snake going under the fence to where we were and she tried to stop it and got bit in the process. She had us scared for a little while, but we doctored her up and she is doing better. She was able to walk to her bed, and go get water. She's resting here beside me and doing better.
