My long-ish Range Hunting Rifle

Premier Barreled action with Triggertech Tigger was jerked from a Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Barrel was cut down to right around 16.5". The goal was to tuck the brake as much as possible but leave the ports exposed.

XLR Carbon Chassis

Nightforce Magmount with RAP

Bushnell Elite 4.5-18 LRHSi was chosen because I believe the G2H is the best hunting first focal plane reticle available. You can still see the donut at low power which helps on movers. I almost went with a second focal plane Swarovski. Time will tell if I will stick with my original choice or not.

Suppressor is a Dead Air Sandman K

Insight PEQ-15 IR Laser/illuminator

Would love to find a Wilcox Raptor to go on top if anybody has one laying around and is looking to trade/sell.

How do you like the Dead Air Sandman K? How well does it quieten the 6.5? I have been considering one for my .308.

It depends on what your are looking for. I don't get weirdo on dBs. I want to shoot without hearing protection. Beyond that I don't care about the decibles. The Sandmans are virtually indestructible cans with an outstanding mounting system and a repeatable POI. I have all three length Sandman and the Ti. I also have a Nomad that I pick up on Thursday and I'll try it as well. If I'm looking for crazy quiet it's 22LR, 9mm and maybe .300 blk but on centerfire rifle I just want the suppressed experience to be consistent, reliable and enjoyable.

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking for crazy quiet either. Just something for hunting purposes that won't do any more damage to my hearing than I've already done from my own stupidity!!

Sandman S is the most versatile if you are looking for one can and run your guns very hard. If it's more for hunting/plinking, casual shooting, precision, the Nomad would be the better choice and has more options for mounting.

If your going to hunt hogs your not going to like the bolt action. Your going to want a semi auto.
Also I used to hunt with laser and night vision but I'm way way better with a clip on thermal which I clip on in front of my day scope. If you are going to run it like it sits move the ir laser down to the side rail. Your gonna have a suck time hitting stuff that isnt close to where you zeroed it. Also use good hunting ammo 6 5 lapua scenar and other target ammo doesnt get the job done with big hogs. Good luck and have fun.

I appreciate the advice, but I have killed plenty of hogs with a bolt action rifle. I also hunt them with semi-auto, depends on HOW and WHERE I am hunting them. I have both thermal and NV and much prefer NV over thermal for weapons mounted, but prefer thermal for finding/scanning. As for the laser/illuminator on this gun, its best up top. You don't use the laser when you are running a scope with weapons mounted NV, there is no need. You just use the illuminator and you can reach it easily while on the gun. Secondly if you mount your laser on the side, you block the illumination on the opposite side of the rifle unless you run it all the way at the end of the handguard, which is not accessible while on the gun if it is a full length rifle. You could run a pressure pad and mount it all the way out, but your laser always mates up with your crosshairs better and further out when run up top, whether that is on the handguard or above your optic. As for the ammo, I agree, hogs are tough, which is why my first shot is always in the head. I don't like losing animals, even if they are pests.
