My Stupid Dangerous Discharge Lesson. Even the best make mistakes

It happens to the best of us. I had a discharge on my Remington 700 in the house when I dropped the safety to fire position a few years ago. My brother in law had a nd with his 1911. He dropped the mag, hit the front of the slide but forgot he had a compensator on it and it didn't eject the chambered round. Me and him got to do an emergency repair on the ceiling before our wives got back home.

I had one. Was going to let a novice look at my gun. Making sure it was not loaded, drop the mag, rack the slide, point at floor and pull the trigger. Only this time, they asked me a question during the process , diverted my attention, and I failed to notice the round did not eject. BOOM! I then offered them the gun, I was positive it wasn't loaded. They said they had seen enough. Taught me not to be distracted when handling firearms. I have had someone tap me on the shoulder at the range when I was shooting. The gun is put in a safe mode first, then proceed to politely answer their questions and end up schooling them a bit
