Nascar Drivers

and turning on the TV to the race on Sunday afternoon, take a nap, wake up and watch the last 25 laps (wrecks for sure)

and root for anbody but #18

That is exactly what I do! No matter what, I always fall asleep 25 laps in and wake up cranky with a greasy face with 25 laps to go.

The only entertainment where you can watch cars race around in circles (most of the time) while you drink adult beverages and holler go #?

and turning on the TV to the race on Sunday afternoon, take a nap, wake up and watch the last 25 laps (wrecks for sure)

Sounds like somebody knows how it's done :)

I used to be a huge fan of SCCA racing back in the day. The lemans series is just a watered down shadow of the old Camel GT series. It aint been the same since they did away with the GTP(as they were) and GTX divisions. Unfortunately right before they did away with the class they were getting too close to flying car technology easily hitting 235+ on the longer straights. Cool stuff back in the day seeing a 1200HP 2.0litre 4 banger flying through the curves.

There are many more facets to Nascar than what you see on Sunday and I urge you to go to one of the smaller local tracks and check out what happens on a Saturday night (old school)
It'll prolly change your mind about those fruity britches lemans drivers.

Eh, racing just isn't racing to me if its possible that you can hold the accelerator all the way to the floor the entire time and provided you have enough brains to steer around things, never wreck. The car should outperform the track at all times, therefore making the driver the deciding factor. Lemans got a whole lot more interesting a few years back when LMP2 Porche began to run with the LMP1's Audi diesels. 10+ hour races that are decide by seconds, on different layout tracks, challenged by cars from different divisions and different strengths (diesel power vs nimble handling) is just a whole heck of a lot more interesting to me than the cookie cutter stock cars driving around in circles with restrictor plates. But hey, to each his own. Oh and I was present at Petite when they had lift off, I was camped out at the end of the straight. Was definitely a terrifying moment.

I can't believe I haven't seen a post about SMOKE... I am a Tony Stewart fan, through it all. He took all the heat before it got laid on Kyle the Pyle.
