Sad. I would think that the sheriff should know that AR's are semi-auto, though. At least, on the radio they said it was an AR-15.

That's actually where I'm moving from. The sheriff, Moose Butler, plainly states that he will NOT sign off on NFA items. And it doesn't surprise me one bit that he isn't very firearms knowledgeable. I do have a couple of buddies on the force and I am still waiting to hear whether they were involved.

Hmm, our former democrat Jacksonville, FL sheriff (Nat Glover) used to do that, too, back in the 90's and people brought suits against him. I'm wondering whether the media will use this 10-year-old's still warm body as anti-gun fodder, or whether it 'won't matter' as much since it seemed to happen in a trailer park in NC, and not in some uppity liberal area in a blue state.
