Need advise on where to post question

I have been given an old rifle and id like to find out some info about before I decide to sell it or give it away or keep it. It looks like a Mauser style gun but none of the markings make sense to me.

Anyway I'm new to the site (which is really awesome by the way) and im not sure where I should direct this question. I can post pictures once i figure out if im in the right place.
