need help choosing the best pistol for me..

Not a pistol, but my son has a single shot Rossi youth (was his first gun) short rifle wth 2 barrels in .410 and .17 hmr that might work to carry in the field with some type of cool custom holster. Just a thought.

Any long barrel double action or single action revolver. Load it with shot in the 1st position, hollowpoints in the 2nd and third, and ball ammo in the rest. This makes you ready for just about anything from close to far. I used to color the ends of the cases with red and green or blue markers so I could quick check what position it was in.

I'd have to say a 357 mag revolver such as the Ruger GP100 in 4 inch version would be my choice.

These or something similar would handle the coyotes and the target practice. I get mine from Wal Mart...

This should handle anything larger hunting wise. (fact of the matter those jacketted soft points ought to do the job on deer at less than 50 yards)

These should handle any snakes you need to dispatch.

If you want something with less recoil for plinking...

Depending on your budget a 9mm handgun for target shooting and snakes. I say this for ammo costs, if you can hit a coyote it will do some damage. And it's not ideal for snakes but I've killed a couple with one.

And a good rifle. AR would be cool but a mini-14 or levee action 30-30 would work fine

My step dad carries a Smith and wessonn357 around the house with a speedloader filled with rat shot for snakes. Load up with high power 357 loads for personnel/yote protection, should you see a snake pop pounds the hunting rounds and throw in rat shot. Wanna do some target shooting? Switch out to some 38 specials, all will fire in a 357 revolver

.357 revolver with a couple rounds of CCI snake shot, or a Glock. I would caution against Taurus. It's got nothing to do with being a gun snob. Way too many quality control issues to consider staking my life to one. Spend the same or less on a used Ruger or Glock.

Absolutely a vote for this one. I'm thinking a smith body guard 38+p, or airweight 357. Ruger LCR's are nice too. If you looking for Slightly larger that you can target with, there are a couple of odd ball Smiths in 3 inch barrels out there that are chambered in 357. 10-3, 19-3, but I could be making those up. Any 357 will have you covered for snakes, and bad guys. Shooting coyotes sounds like a good reason to me to spend a little cash and buy either a Smith and Wesson or a Dan Wesson model with the interchangeable barrel lengths, or to buy a good carry revolver and then pick up one of these Remington SPS light tactical .223's that keep popping up on here.
